This extensive and highly selective process sought out top-tier healthcare executives with deep expertise in clinical oversight, operational leadership, and large-scale healthcare transformation.
Dr. Barrueto stood out as the perfect fit.

Dr. Barrueto joins CoreLife from the University of Maryland Health System, where he served as Senior Vice President & Chief Clinical Officer since 2007. He is double board-certified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology and is currently pursuing board certification in obesity medicine—a reflection of his deep commitment to improving patient outcomes in this vital area. As CoreLife’s Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Barrueto will lead the organization’s clinical strategy, oversee provider education and development, and ensure the highest standards of quality and care across all markets while continuing to evolve the care model.
Throughout his career, Dr. Barrueto has led major healthcare initiatives, including serving as Incident Commander during the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing 600+ physicians and advanced practice providers, and spearheading medical facility expansions and strategic growth projects. His leadership has shaped healthcare operations at the highest levels, and now, his expertise will help propel CoreLife into its next chapter.
