Having a well-equipped kitchen can help make meal prep easier and more fun. Here’s a list of my favorite, go-to kitchen goodies that help me make nutritious, delicious meals for myself and family every day.

  1. Blender – this is probably one of my most-used appliances (other than the fridge and stove!). Sauces, smoothies, chia seed pudding – my blender is typically more often found dirty in the sink instead of clean in the cupboard. While a high-powered blender like the Vitamix is awesome (and on my wish list!), a much less expensive one like KitchenAid is a great place to start.
  1. Spiralizer – I recently listed this one on my “gift guide” post. This little gadget is crazy-fun. I love making “noodles” out of squash, sweet potatoes, beets, and more. It makes meals super bright and colorful and allows me to easily add a huge nutrition punch to a number of meals.
  1. Knives – a good set of knives, or at least a nice chef’s blade, is essential in any kitchen. Food prep is made so much more smooth and enjoyable when you have a good, sharp knife. Make sure to sharpen your knives regularly or have them sharpened. A dull blade is a dangerous thing.
  1. Mason Jars – While this isn’t exactly a “gadget”, I love my mason jars. I have a variety of sizes and store everything from bulk ingredients like nuts, oats, and dried fruit, to homemade sauces like pesto and pizza. They’re great for all sort of storage and can add to your kitchen décor when filled with different ingredients and displayed on open shelves.
