Frequently Asked Questions
What is CoreLife?
Our mission is to enhance the total health of our patients by continual innovation and application of a multidisciplinary weight loss healthcare model. Safety, success, and sustainability is based on our coordinated care model, including medical, nutrition, exercise, and behavior. Our pledge to you is to provide you with the highest quality programs and counseling that help achieve a healthy lifestyle and weight.
How is CoreLife different?
CoreLife realizes that one-dimensional approaches do not work for the long term. The weight industry has failed to provide any meaningful results with these singular approaches. CoreLife asks a different question: How can anyone claim to treat an individual without first addressing the person’s medical profile and the underlying factors that lead to the weight gain in the first place? CoreLife is uniquely different in that we challenge conventional wisdom and view weight loss healthcare as a process within the context of the overall health profile; a process that requires a multidisciplinary approach including medical, nutrition, exercise, and behavior components.
How do I know the best program for me?
Weight loss is a complex problem that requires a variety of treatment options. No single treatment will work for all people. CoreLife has a proprietary and innovative intake and evaluation process that allows us to first uncover the underlying causes of weight gain and, secondarily, provide specific solutions to your needs. We ensure that these solutions conform to the lifestyle, medical needs, weight loss, and safety of the individual.
Why should I come to CoreLife instead of just joining a gym or doing it on my own?
A typical gym or health club can provide a long list of equipment, but very little in the form of expertise, direction, and individualization. CoreLife takes the guesswork out of the process and provides you with all of the tools you would need in one place.
How do I know which program to choose?
There are a multitude of paths and combinations that we can develop. Our proprietary intake process helps to provide recommendations and solutions. These are shared in the free consultation so that you are fully aware of the details, expectations, and costs.
What if I have never exercised before?
We have a wide range of programs and solutions; it does not matter if you are completely new or have extensive experience. We always individualize these programs to meet the goals and needs of each client. An on-site fitness facility provides you with the opportunity to begin to exercise in a comfortable and private space.
Other programs I have tried have been unable to keep the weight off; how is your program different?
Most programs fail for a variety of reasons. Most of the time it is because all components were not addressed (medical, nutrition, exercise, and behavior). Others promote product purchases, but do not develop or emphasize the importance of education, strength training, lifestyle and behavior change. Quick and easy solutions don’t work. CoreLife takes a different approach. We address all of these components and do it based upon scientifically proven principles, with the metabolism at the forefront. This approach allows for the highest rate of success, safety, and sustainability.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. As of this writing CoreLife accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, CIGNA, Aetna, and Evergreen. To be sure, please contact your local office for more information.
What medications are used?
We tailor a program for each individual. If appropriate, and only as a tool, we use FDA approved medications in conjunction with a comprehensive program.
What about the cost?
We are very affordable! Your program cost will depend on your specific weight loss goals, health needs and lifestyle requirements. Everyone is different. We will always be open and up front about costs – nothing is hidden and there are no contracts to sign. We intentionally set our prices low so weight loss can be an achievable goal for everyone. You will find that as you progress through the program you will be spending less on food, prescription medication and illness-related health care expenses. In addition, insurance may cover a portion of your visits.
What kind of payment do you take? Do you have payment plans?
We accept cash, checks and major credit cards (except amex) at all of our offices. Payment is due in full at the time of the visit. We will also bill insurance for in-network services.
I have some medical issues, can I be treated?
Generally, our programs are very safe for most people. We have many patients with controlled high blood pressure and diabetes. Please contact our offices regarding your concerns.
Is the medication given in the office or do I need to have a prescription filled?
Our medication is dispensed on site, which is generally cheaper and more convenient. Most of our patients enjoy the convenience of taking their medications home without the hassle of prescriptions. We can write a prescription for you to take and have filled at the pharmacy of your choice.
Are the appetite suppressants safe?
The prescription appetite suppressants we use are safe and effective for controlling hunger. They are FDA-approved and are recommended by the National Institute of Health for the treatment of weight loss.
Do the appetite suppressants make you lose weight?
When combined with a proper diet and regular exercise, weight-loss medication can be an additional option and tool. Diet and exercise are responsible for part of this weight loss, and medications are responsible for part as well. You should know, though, that prescription weight-loss medications don’t replace the need to make healthy changes in your eating habits and activity level. This is important to understand.
Do you use Phen/Fen?
Absolutely not. The combination of Phen/Fen was popular in the 1990’s but they discovered that this combination caused cardiac complications and the medication was taken off the market. The only medications we use are FDA-approved and are recommended by the National Institute of Health because of their long term safety and efficacy.
What are the supplemental injections?
The supplemental injections we use are a combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, which include B-12 to help enhance your overall weight loss. They are a program supplement to help eliminate fat, control carbohydrate metabolism, help your immune system and provide energy.
Do the injections control my appetite?
No, the FDA-approved appetite suppressant helps controls your appetite.
I just had blood work done. Can I bring that with me?
Sure, if your blood work is current (within 6 months) and matches our required tests.
Does the program incorporate any exercise?
We have our on-site fitness studio! Our weight loss program introduces a moderate amount of exercise that significantly improves overall health, well-being and quality of life.
Do you treat minors?
This is a medical decision by our physician. Our medications have been successfully and safely used on many different age groups. However, we do require parental supervision during office visits and treatment of minors.
Can I do this program with my Primary Care Physician?
Although your Primary Care Physician may be able to prescribe medication to help you lose weight, prescription medication is only one element of a successful weight loss program; and may not be for everyone. Our program includes individual counseling, educational tools and techniques, in-house fitness studio with training and the medical expertise needed to help you reach your weight loss and wellness goals for a lifetime.
